Nancy McCoskery Obituary

Nancy McCoskery, a child of God, died at home and at peace on Sunday morning October 18, 2020. Her laughter now lives in each person whose life she ever touched. Nancy was born in the Helena Valley to a family of aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and friends. Her family never stopped growing. Across miles, music, and good food more friends and family were added to her heart. She was an artist and a musician, a daughter and a big sister. She was an example of faith and perseverance, the strongest person many of us have ever known. The sunflower was her symbol, a representation of her smile and ability to always find the bright side of things. Like the sunflower, she chose to stand tall and find the sunshine, even on the darkest days. Through the end, she asked that we all choose kindness, love each other, and find any opportunity to laugh. Our biggest laughs with Nancy always came with tears rolling down our faces. Now we can remember her best by laughing through our sadness and by smiling for each other. As a memorial, trees will be planted in the Helena Valley to stand tall and strong as a testament to her life. Those wishing to contribute to this memorial project may contact a family member. Please note that the tree donations through the O’Connor Funeral Home website are not part of our Helena memorial. A Celebration of Nancy’s life and dedication of trees will be held outdoors on the grounds of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church at 3580 N. Benton Ave, Helena MT, on Monday October 26, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. We hope you can join us and ask that you bring your own chairs and honor our request to help keep others safe by wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing. Please and Thank you! As much as we would love to hug you all, we will embrace you with our hearts and smiles. Her mother, Jeanne; father, Bob; and sister, Molly thank all her doctors, nurses, co-workers, and her community of faith who took care of her, loved her, and prayed for her and for us throughout her journey. We would specially like to thank Karrie Wickman, Nancy's best friend, personal nurse and our angel. Words cannot express what she means to us and meant to Nancy. “Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee. How great Thou art. How great Thou art.” Nancy Gene McCoskery, child of God. You have been sealed by the Holy Spirit and marked with the cross of Christ forever.
