John Michael Douglass

John Michael Douglass, age 73, of Erie, passed away Monday, October 19, 2020 at Western Reserve Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, February 20, 1947, he was the son of the late Edward and Mildred (Deckant) Douglass. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years as a tool and die maker for General Fireproofing Company, in Youngstown. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his family, NASCAR and skydiving in his younger days. For the past 7 years, he regularly met his friends at the Breakfast Place on Peach Street every morning. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda in 2010. He is survived by two daughters, Susan Cropp, husband Dr. Gregory, of Erie, and Amy Mahoney, husband Mike, of York, S.C.; two step-children, Trisha Brunckhart, husband Lee, of Massillon, OH and Tammy McCartney, husband Greg, of Lordstown, OH; three grandchildren, Adam and Kaitlyn Cropp, and Sarah Brunckhart; and a sister, Joan Gorant of Akron, OH. Private burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, in Youngstown, Ohio. Brugger Funeral Homes and Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th Street is assisting with arrangements.
