Sue Carol Hughes, 80, of Montgomery formerly of Oak Hill passed away on Sunday, October 18th, 2020 following a long illness. Born May 15th, 1940 in Oak Hill, Sue was the daughter of the late Talmadge and Nila Frances Ratliff Burgess.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Carl Hughes Sr., and her sister, Nancy Jo Pietras.

Sue and Ron owned and operated S&R Office Supply and Wildlife Art Gallery in Garden City MI.  Her children’s friends were always in and out of the house and often called her mom. She was an active member of the Wayne Ford Civic League and chaperoned the teen dances there every Friday night in addition to being a Cub Scout Den Mother. She had a love of pets and raised many litters of dogs and cats over the years. At family functions, everyone always requested her lasagna.

Sue is survived by; two daughters, Calinda “Cande” Sue Ratliff Hughes of Oak Hill, Shannon Nicole Temple and husband Jonathon of Laurel, MD, two sons, Ronald “Sonny” Carl Hughes Jr. of Naples, FL, and Thomas Blair Hughes of Brooklyn, MI, four grandchildren, Carli Dawn Ratliff, Kristina Sue Hughes, Stephanie Nicole Hughes, and Caden Ronald Temple, step-granddaughter, Lindsay Gail Hughes, step-grandson, David James Longhway, two great-grandchildren, Connor James Williams, and Ryleigh Joann Cobb.
