Shirley Arlene Bradfield Obituary

Shirley Arlene Bradfield went to be with her Lord on October 14, 2020. She was born in Big Timber, Montana on November 17, 1934 to Albert and Mildred (Dean) Wagner, the youngest of their seven children. She attended Big Timber Grade School and graduated from Sweet Grass High School in 1952. Shirley spent her early years working around Big Timber and Livingston at Cole Drug and Wilcoxins Ice Cream and the Van Cleve Dude Ranch. She decided to dedicate her life to the Lord, at which time she went through the process of becoming a nun, although she did not take her final vows. In 1978 she met Pastor E.F. Bradfield whom she married. Together they served the Lord, spending time in Big Timber and Manhattan before ultimately settling in Hilmar, California. Following her husband’s passing Shirley went to work full time for the Calvary First Assembly church in Hilmar where she remained until her retirement. After 29 years in California, Shirley returned to Big Timber in 2015 where she resided until her death. Shirley always said that the way to stay young was to hang out with young people. That is why she so much enjoyed being around her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. They all enjoyed her laughter, jokes, and songs that she continued singing almost to the end. She was the happiest person and always had a great attitude. She spent many hours reading her Bible, listening to devotional tapes and tending to her flowers. In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Margie Wolfe, Jean McCauley, Veva Stoessel, Mildred Martinz, and brothers Robert Wagner and David Wagner. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 1:30pm Thursday, October 29 at the Mountain View Cemetery in Big Timber. In lieu of flowers, please make donations and memorials to the Pioneer Medical Center in Big Timber or the Church of God. To leave condolences for the family please visit www.stenbergfuneralhome.com
