Mardyss "Marti" Aldean Groh Obituary

Mardyss Aldean “Marti” Groh, 82, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the Wyoming Pioneer Home where she had resided the past four years.

Born November 27, 1937 in Swea City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Henry and Amelia (Berhow) Johnson.

On August 14, 1961 Marti married Richard H. Groh in Mason City, Iowa.  The couple lived in Casper and Thermopolis a short time before moving overseas living in Saudi Arabia, Libya and Greece while Richard was employed in the oil fields.  The family returned to Thermopolis in 1980 where Marti worked as a Medical Transcriptionist for Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital until retiring in 1990.

A member of First Baptist Church, Marti enjoyed traveling, tending her yard and flowers and was a good cook.

Those cherishing her memory include her children, Kristi Cogdill of McCammon, ID and Rick (Kathy) Groh of Thermopolis; sister, Marlyss of Chicago, IL; son-in-law, Troy Slaybaugh; grandchildren, Heather Pesola, Ty, Tavis and Taron Saylor, Hannah Cogdill, Chris Groh, Kaylee Crosby, Dereck Rygwalski, Kaitlin Love and Alyssa Slaybaugh and seven great grandchildren.  Preceding her in death were her parents,brother, Ron Johnson, husband, Dick in 2016, and daughter, Kim Slaybaugh in 2016.

A Celebration of Life will be held in 2021.  Memorials may be made to the Hot Springs County Hospital Auxiliary, %Mary Nutter, P O Box 892, Thermopolis, 82443.
