Marion Elizabeth Thul Obituary

Marion Elizabeth Thul, 84, of Great Falls, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2020, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. A funeral liturgy will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2020, also at Holy Spirit with niche placement in the Holy Spirit Columbarium following the service. Marion was born on July 13, 1936, in Choteau, Montana to William and Elizabeth (Laverdure) McFarlane. She attended schools in Choteau graduating from Choteau High School. She married Jim Thul at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Choteau on October 29, 1955, and shortly after they moved to Great Falls. Marion stayed at home while their two children, Mary Ann and Bob were growing up. After they grew up, she went to work at the NCO Club on Malmstrom AFB, and then on to the pre-release center where she was the first lady to retire from there. She volunteered for the American Red Cross and provided food for receptions and dinners at Holy Spirit. She enjoyed playing Bingo and prayed the rosary daily. Marion is survived by her husband, Jim; children, Mary Ann (Donald) Mackall and Bob (Tricia) Thul of Belt; brother, Osborne “Chuck” McFarlane; and two grandchildren, Kelly Morse and Kristopher Thul. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marjorie Klerr Donations in Marion’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
