Frances Streeter Obituary

Frances Streeter, 87, of Bastrop, Louisiana, died Sunday, October 18, 2020.  Mrs. Streeter was a native of Forest, Louisiana and a resident of Bastrop, Louisiana for most of her life.  She was employed by International Paper Company in Bastrop where she met her lifelong love, Wesley. She was an avid outdoorswoman and she and her husband owned one of the largest taxidermy shops since 1950, Streeter Taxidermy.  After she retired from the taxidermy business, she worked at the Red Barn in Log Cabin, Louisiana, and was blessed with long time friends and neighbors, whom she enjoyed visiting and seeing every day.  Mrs. Streeter was a breast cancer survivor of 22 years, and she played a big part in breast cancer awareness through her experience. Breast cancer did not slow her down. She would travel at the drop of a hat with her husband and dear friends.  Mrs. Streeter was raised in the Pentecostal faith, as her father and grandfather were both preachers. She loved to sing in church and was singing “I’ll Fly Away” a few days before her passing.  Her faith in the Lord was strong.  She enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and precious extended family.  She will be deeply missed by all.

She is preceded in death by parents, William “Bill” & Lillian Canoy Smith; three sisters, Erma McMillan, Beatrice Frith and Callie Pardon and five brothers, Billy Ray Smith, Prentis Smith, Lloyd Smith, Wayne Smith and Durwood Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Wesley Ray Streeter, Sr. of Bastrop, Louisiana; a daughter, Pam Streeter Garrett and husband, Raymond, of Sterlington, Louisiana; her son, Wesley Ray Streeter, Jr. of Bastrop, Louisiana; two sisters, Myrtis Sant of Jackson, Mississippi and Carolyn McMillan of West Monroe, Louisiana; four grandchildren, Justin Streeter and wife, Lauren of Eufaula, Alabama, Anna Claire Courtney and husband, David, of Sterlington, Louisiana, Boyd Garrett and wife, Dee Dee, of Bastrop, Louisiana, Pam Jones and husband, Nick, of Oak Grove, Louisiana; eight great-grandchildren, Shelby, Brayden, Charlie, Cristal, Courtney, Mason, Cayden and Tanner, numerous nieces and nephews and a bonus daughter, Belinda Harrell.

Graveside services are 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 21, 2020, in the Trafalgar Cemetery with Bro. Terry Greenwood and Bro. Harold Pruitt officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Nelms, Roger Nelms, David Nelms, Billy Wayne Streeter, Mike McMillan, Greg Martin and Stacy Smith.  Memorials may be made to Susan G. Koman, Dept. 41831, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX  75265.
