Mrs. Mary H. Thornton, 91 of Winfield went home to be with the Lord on October 19, 2020. Mary was a member of Judson Baptist Church and the American Baptist Women. She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene Thornton. She is survived by her son Richard and wife Sheila Kerns of Cross Lanes; sister Geneal Berkhouse of Charleston; grandson Ricky and wife Danielle Kerns of Roane County and four great grandchildren Jasmin, Summer, Mary Ann and Tyler. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Sheth and his staff and all the staff at Genesis of Dunbar Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to Mary. A tribute to the life of Mrs. Mary Thornton will be 2:00 PM Thursday October 22, 2020 at Haven of Rest Memory Gardens with Pastor Sam Gasaway officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The service will be held outside, but social distancing and mask are required.
