<p><span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>Richard Leon Parcel, age 83, of Wilton, Iowa (formerly of Moravia, Iowa) went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, October 17, 2020.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>Richard was born on July 24, 1937 in Allerton, Iowa, the son of Chester and Margaret (Jennings) Parcel.&nbsp; He lived most of his life in the Allerton area.&nbsp; Richard was united in marriage to the love of his life Thelma Irene Parcel on November 18, 1961 in Unionville, Missouri.&nbsp; To this union of marriage, the couple were blessed with five children, Theresa, Bonnie, Debbie, Danny, and Tammy.&nbsp;</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>Richard and his family moved to Moravia, Iowa in 1986.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>Richard worked for McGraw Edison in Centerville until he accepted a position with the Burlington Northern Railroad.&nbsp; He retired from the railroad on November 13, 2000, having twenty-two years of committed service.&nbsp;</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>In Richard&rsquo;s past time he very much enjoyed watching westerns (especially John Wayne) and baseball on TV.&nbsp; His favorite baseball teams were his beloved Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals.&nbsp; He loved planting flowers outside in his flower garden.&nbsp; Richard was also fond of eagles and trains.&nbsp; Furthermore, he enjoyed spending time with his dog Abby and his cat Cali.&nbsp; Most importantly, Richard loved his children and grandchildren and was very proud of being a father, grandpa, and uncle.&nbsp; His family meant the world to him and all who knew him understood that he would do anything for his family.&nbsp; A selfless and kind hearted man, Richard always put his family first.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>Upon moving to Wilton, Iowa after his wife&rsquo;s death in 2007, Richard started attending the Christian Life Church in Muscatine, Iowa with his daughter Tammy.&nbsp; He was baptized in Jesus&rsquo; name by Pastor Steven Brown on March 31, 2019.&nbsp; Richard was very happy about giving his life to the Lord.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>Richard is survived by his children, Debbie (Larry) Atkinson of Cincinnati, Iowa, Tammy (Fernando) Cadena of Illinois City, Illinois, Larry Wireman of Centerville, Iowa, Mary (Robert) Gerlic of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Robert Wireman of Cincinnati, Iowa; a brother, James Parcel of Wilton, Iowa; his sister, Thelma Wadden of Wilton, Iowa; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Margaret Parcel; two sons, Kenneth Wireman and Danny Parcel; two daughters, Theresa Ford and Bonnie Barger; and two grandchildren, Danielle Wireman and Remmington Wayne Rogers.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Steven Brown officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the Sharon Chapel Cemetery, east of Centerville.&nbsp; A visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 11AM-1PM.&nbsp; A memorial has been established to Tammy Cadena, to be determined at a later date, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa.&nbsp; Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com.&nbsp; &nbsp;</strong></span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

Richard Leon Parcel, age 83, of Wilton, Iowa (formerly of Moravia, Iowa) went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, October 17, 2020.

Richard was born on July 24, 1937 in Allerton, Iowa, the son of Chester and Margaret (Jennings) Parcel.  He lived most of his life in the Allerton area.  Richard was united in marriage to the love of his life Thelma Irene Parcel on November 18, 1961 in Unionville, Missouri.  To this union of marriage, the couple were blessed with five children, Theresa, Bonnie, Debbie, Danny, and Tammy. 

Richard and his family moved to Moravia, Iowa in 1986.
