Erla Rudd Obituary

RUDD, Erla Ruth, born November 11, 1925 – October 17, 2020, aged 94 years.

The family of Erla Rudd (nee Philley) is saddened to announce that Erla passed away peacefully at the Kamsack and District Nursing home on Saturday, October 17, at the age of 94.
After graduating from Saskatoon’s Nutana Collegiate Institute, she began working for Saskatchewan Government telephones. Erla was transferred to Kamsack as a Telephone Agent in 1947. It was in Kamsack that she would meet the love of her life, “Jimmy.” They were married on July 20, 1949.  Jim and Erla were active foster parents and loyal members of the Royal Canadian Legion. Erla served as treasurer of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary for over 30 years.  She was also a member of St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, and the C.W.L.  Erla was an avid bowler and steadfast supporter of her community.  She loved camping at Duck Mountain Provincial Park and driving across the country to visit their family and friends.  After Jim’s untimely death in 1970, Erla raised her 3 children on her own.  Erla was a character known for her unfiltered wit and sense of humour. She was variously known as “feisty” and a “firecracker.”     To family and friends in Heaven….” Oh Oh! Here comes Erla!”
Erla is survived by her son Earl (Maria) and daughter Roberta (Garth) Materie and numerous nieces and nephews. .  She was predeceased parents Edgar and Helen Philley (nee Anstett),  her husband Jim, her son Barry and her siblings. Brothers; Alden, Eugene and Lorne, and Sisters; Lois Kennedy, Mae McPhail and Betty Philley.  She will be sorely missed and always remembered.

Funeral Services will be held on June 26th at 2:00 pm at the Roman Catholic Church in Kamsack, Saskatchewan with Father Joseph officiating. Graveside service will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Kamsack
