Marcene "Marcy" Walvatne, 81, passed away October 16, 2020 at her home in Runnells, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 29 at Iles Grandview Park Chapel, 3211 Hubbell Ave. Des Moines. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 30 at Grandview Park Chapel followed by burial at Powers-Warren Cemetery near Runnells. Marcy was born on August 16, 1939 to Loren and Bernice Czizek-Chandler in Des Moines, IA. Marcy was a lifelong resident of Des Moines although she spent summers with her grandparents in Missouri. She graduated from East High School in Des Moines. After graduation Marcy met Kenneth "Bud" Walvatne and they were married February 24, 1962. Marcy worked for the State of Iowa in the printing department and retired after 36 years. Marcy's most important role was that of a wonderful, loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Marcy also carried the role of sister, aunt, great aunt and friend. She enjoyed live music and dancing while surrounded by friends. Among her many hobbies were shopping for and collecting various Disney collectibles and crafting, Marcy enjoyed western television shows and John Wayne movies. Marcy was loved by many and had a way of making herself comfortable in someone's heart very quickly. Marcy was the solid foundation of her family and was so very loved. She will be missed. Marcy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bud Walvatne; daughter, Kellee Walvatne-Sheriff (Tim) and granddaughter, Lauryn (Tyler Patterson) of Altoona, Iowa; son, Chad Walvatne (Lori Middleton) and grandson, Bradley of Runnells, Iowa; and four nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Bernice Czizek- Chandler; brother, Sherman Chandler; great niece, Jena Degeest; and brother-in-law, John Walvatne of Hemet, California.
