Daniel George Davis (Dan), resident of Mocksville, NC, age 48 went to be with His Lord and Savior on May 22, 2017. Dan left this earth suddenly because of heart failure. Dan’s father, George Davis from Salem, OH is deceased. Dan is survived by his mother, Joanne Allison from Alliance, OH, his sister Jennifer Peterson and husband Daniel from Seville, OH, his son Daniel Davis (29) and his wife Jennifer and Dan’s granddaughter Karina (8) from Sutherland, Virginia. Dan’s mother says, “Dan is my joy, my strength, my pride my go to person. I will miss him greatly.” Dan is also survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Sonja and their children, Tanner (16), Ethan (13) and Kathryn (11). Dan grew up in Salem, OH and participated in football, wrestling and track. Dan entered the U.S. Army in 1987 and was stationed at Fort Hood and trained as a Tank Commander. Following 3 years of active duty he joined National Guard as Tank Commander for 10 years. He graduated from DeVry University in Columbus, OH with an engineering degree and Ohio University in Athens, OH with a MBA. Dan worked at Honda America in Marysville, OH for 10 years where he designed electronic systems for the new Acura. His last employment was at Ingersoll Rand in Davidson, NC as Lead Supplier Development Engineer where he did extensive international travel. As a believer in Jesus Christ Dan attended Cornerstone Christian Church pastored by Rev. Kevin Frack with his family. He played the drums as part of the worship team. Dan was a true American patriot. He loved his country and was proud to serve in the military. He passes this love down to his children. A member of the NRA Dan was a gun enthusiast. He taught his children gun safety and how to shoot and respectfully care for guns. He taught them the American right to bear arms. His wife Sonja says, “Dan was a huge presence in our family and will be greatly missed.” Sonja’s extended family also grieves the loss of their precious son-in-law. Her parents Thomas and Jayne Gurley of Awendaw, SC, her sisters Julianna Fletcher and husband Joel of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Yvonne Lingo and husband Brad of Charlotte, NC. Nieces and nephews include Sam Fletcher (19), Brooke Fletcher (16), Ben Fletcher (12), Camille Lingo (6), Elsie Lingo (5) and Anna Grace Lingo (1&1/2). In our family he will be remembered as the Breakfast Chef and Baby Whisperer! We love you Dan. We will see you in Heaven.) The family will receive friends on Friday May 26, 2017 from 6-8pm at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel, Advance, NC.
