Claude Elwin Roach Obituary

Claude Elwin Roach, 86, of Lapeer, passed away October 17, 2020. He was born in Kingston, MI on March 16, 1934. Claude loyally served in the United States Naval Reserve. He volunteered much of his time to Operation Care Package of Michigan, "The Blankie Project", and the Detroit Men's Choir as a deaf interpreter. Claude enjoyed traveling, collecting cobalt blue antique glass and was an avid gardener with an incredible knack for bringing life to any plant. Most of all, Claude was a devoted Father, Grandfather and Uncle. Claude is survived by his children, Matthew (Kathleen) Roach, Sally (William) Schaffer, and Samuel (Patricia) Roach; grandchildren, Lin Pigg, Annmarie Macko, Scott, Mathew, Douglas, and Bradly Haggadone, and Jennifer McGinnis; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Ellison Roach; sister Doris Jean Brown; also several nieces and nephews and good friend Norm. Claude was preceded in death by his parents Arthur & Rachel Roach; daughter Mandy Lance; brother Floyd Roach; sister Emma Dean; sister-in-law Edith Roach; grandson Michael DeSilva. Memorial donations to Operation Care Package Michigan, 3529 W Genesee St, Lapeer, MI 48446 are appreciated. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th at 1:00 p.m. at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. Claude's son Sam Roach will officiate the service. Friends may visit on Tuesday prior to the service from 10:00 to 1:00 p.m. Claude will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Lapeer.
