Carol Hollyday Niden Bean Obituary

Carol Hollyday Livingston Niden Bean, at the age 94, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2020. Carol was born on August 2, 1926 in Dorchester, Massachusetts to Philip Webster and Ethelyn Hollyday Livingston. The Livingstons moved to Needham in 1938. Carol graduated from Needham High School in 1944 and attended Houghton College. Carol met Adam Niden, also of Needham, at the Needham Golf Club and married him in 1951. Carol and Adam built a home on Old Farm Road in Needham where they raised their 4 children; Alexina, Laurel, Michael and Adam. Carol spent most of her life living in the house she and Adam built.   She was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Needham, where she participated in the Youth Group, Couples Club, taught Sunday School, Harvest Fair, Steeple Exchange and most appropriately used her God given gift of “Hospitality” as the head Collation Coordinator later on in her life.  After her first husband’s death she met William “Bill” Bean of Lexington and they married in 1980.  Bill added to the family, 3 more children; William, Bruce and Connie. Carol and Bill brought both families together with their love of skiing.

Carol loved her home on Great Pond in Eastham. A family home she has shared with six generations.  She spent the last 5 years of her life residing at her beloved Eastham Home looking out over Great Pond.

Carol had a beautiful way of bringing people together. Her friends stretched from every decade of her life. From her childhood in Needham and Eastham, Needham High School, Old Farm Road, Christ Church, to Highlands Ski Area. Carol surrounded herself with good and loving people. She loved entertaining, cooking, baking and sharing her favorite recipes; lobster newburg, onion rice and Toll House cookies to name a few.

Carol was predeceased by her husbands, Adam Niden and William J. Bean and her brother, Philip H. Livingston.  She is survived by her four children and three stepchildren: Alexina Niden Brooks and her husband Randy, Laurel Niden Peters and her husband Alfred, Michael Niden and her daughter in-law Lisa Finneran, Adam Niden and his wife Jennifer, Bruce Bean and his wife Barbara, William and his wife Maria and Connie Bean O’Connor. Grandchildren: Marisha Brooks, Alfred Peters, Julia Peters Martinho, Kara Peters Colucci, Jamie Peters, Emma Niden, Adam Niden, Matthew Niden, Mark Niden, Michala Niden, Austin Bean, Ashley Bean, Shawn Bean, Marta Bean, Maclyn Bean, Emily McConnell Baron, Kirk McConnell and 14 great grandchildren.  Carol leaves behind a large network of nieces, nephews and friends whose lives she has touched forever.

The family would especially like to thank the caregivers who made her final years so special on Great Pond in Eastham.

Carol had a private funeral mass at Christ Episcopal Church in Needham on October 12th.  Carol was buried next to her first husband Adam in the Needham Cemetery.

Adam and Jennifer Niden hosted a collation at their home in Walpole following the service.
