Roger A. Kaufman

Roger A. Kaufman, 82 of Parkersburg passed away October 15, 2020 at his residence following a 3 Month battle with cancer. He was born at Ely, WV. the son of the late Charles W. and Norma Iris Hogue Kaufman. He was a 1956 graduate of Parkersburg High School. While in high school he began working with The Leavitt Funeral Home where he worked with the funeral home and ambulance service. He was employed by E.I. Dupont for 35 years where he worked as a Supervisor in Teflon before his retirement. After his retirement from Dupont he began working again with the Leavitt Funeral Home saying his heart had never been far away from funeral service. He worked visitations and funerals on occasion up until he became ill. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida with his wife, Joan and always had stories to share about his experiences over the years. He was a longtime member of the Washington United Methodist Church and will be missed by his family, friends and all who loved him. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan L. Moellendick Kaufman of Parkersburg; His son Jay A. Kaufman of Mineral Wells; His sisters, Ruth Barry of Washington, WV. and Gloria Diane Allen of Parkersburg; His brothers, Charles William Kaufman and James Robert Kaufman both of Vienna, WV. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Norma J. Treadway and Betty J. Kaufman and his brothers, Paul E. Kaufman and Darell Kaufman. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00am at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Reverend Brian Long officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm. The family would like to thank Amedisys and the staff for the wonderful care.
