Sam Catanzano, Jr., 92, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday October 14, 2020. Sam was born October 6, 1928 to the late Sam and Rose Catanzano. He was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA but had lived in this area for many years. He lived in Lumpkin County for 20 years before returning to Dawson County. Mr. Catanzano was a retired fire protection engineer, was a U. S. Army Veteran, and was an active member of the Dawsonville Lions Club. He was a founding member of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church and was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sara J. Catanzano, and brothers, John Catanzano and Joe Catanzano. He is survived by a sister, Renee Unglo, Pittsburgh, PA; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. A memorial mass will be held for the family at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church Building Fund, 991 Kilough Church Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
