Charleen Maddix

1952- 2020

Charleen Maddix, age 68, of Olive Hill, KY, passed away Thursday morning, October 15, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family, following a battle with lung cancer and a stroke.

She was born August 24, 1952, to the late Arvel Holbrook and Kathryn Hedge Holbrook. Throughout her life she worked for local factories like Cowden’s, Big Yank, M. Fine, Ashland Sales, and Cintas; from which she retired. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, sitting on the porch with her family and watching her great-grandson play. 

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one sister, Alma Tackett.

Charleen is survived by her husband, Sammy Maddix; one daughter, Michelle (John) Underwood; one son, Sammy Maddix, Jr.; three grandchildren, Jonathan (Kirsten) Underwood, KaLeigh (Jason) Hemminger, and Danielle Underwood; one great-grandson, Oliver Underwood; her mother, Kathryn Holbrook; two sisters, Bonnie (Dallas) Gilliam and Sherri (Terry) Frerichs; one brother, Danny (Glenna) Holbrook; two sisters-in-law, Jill Molton and JoAnn (Ronnie) Tucker; and one brother-in-law, Rick (Linda) Maddix.  She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and countless other family members and friends who will deeply miss her.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 19, 2020 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Bro. Gary Sparks and Terry Frerichs officiating.  Following CDC guidelines, seating will be limited. Burial will follow at the Olive Hill Memorial Park.

Friends may visit from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 18, 2020 and 9:00 A.M. to time of service on Monday, October 19, 2020 at the Duvall and Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY.

Friends and Family will serve as Pallbearers.
