Clifford H. Eastman, Jr. age 90, husband of Elizabeth Eastman for 64 years, of Campton, NH passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family members. Clifford was born on December 7, 1929 in Exeter and was raised in Hampton, NH by his late parents, Clifford H. Eastman, Sr., and Lily (Porter) Eastman. He graduated from Hampton Academy in 1948 and then worked for the Boston and Maine Railroad until he was called into the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He returned to the Boston Maine Railroad until he joined the Hampton Police Department. He joined the NH State Police in 1959 until he retired from there after 20 years. He was then a rural carrier for the USPS, a bailiff at the Grafton County District Court, a prep cook at the Mad River Tavern and a ranger at the Owl’s Nest Golf Club. Clifford was a longtime resident of Campton raising three children with his wife Betty. He enjoyed many sports, was an avid golfer, was a member of many bowling leagues, loved model trains, playing cards and whistling a tune. He is remembered by many in the community as an umpire for baseball and softball games and he could be heard at many football and basketball games rooting on the local team. He was a devoted member and Past Master of the Mount Prospect and Olive Branch Lodges (currently Chocorca Lodge). In addition to his wife Elizabeth he is survived by two daughters, Doreen Powers and her husband Tom Powers of Thornton, NH, Joan Kleptz and her husband Mark Kleptz of Shelburne, VT and a son Brian Eastman of Campton, NH along with his four grandchildren Kayla Haas, Jennifer Balog, Thomas Powers III and Denise Goulet, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his siblings, sisters Beverly Eastman, Shirley Davenport, Lily Marston and Arley May Eastman as well as his brothers John Eastman and Glyn Eastman. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Deborah Gray, Comfort Keepers and the Pemi-Baker Community Health hospice care. A graveside service will be held at the Blair Cemetery in Campton at 11 o’clock on Friday October 23, masks and social distancing is appreciated.
