Frank "Joe" W. Milks, Jr. Obituary

The youngest of six children; three sisters, Lenore, Jean and Bertha; two brothers, Millard and Lynn. His first school years were in a one room school house, later by bus to the Delevan School. The family later moved to the hamlet of West Valley and graduated from the West Valley Central School in 1946. It was at this time, he joined the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Wilkes Barre and USS Little Rock. Upon discharge, he worked for the Ford Assembly Plant in Woodlawn, NY until the plant moved to Ohio. May 17, 1952, he married Elizabeth (Betty) Nason at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Delavan, NY. Blessed with six children; three daughters, Kathleen, Mary and Colleen; three sons, Jerome, Bryan and Bradley; thirteen grandchildren, Melanie, Jennifer, Megan, Jordan, Justyn, Ebbn, Ryan, Brett, Alex, Joshua, Christopher, Andrew and Ethan; and seven great grandchildren, Sophia, Jackson, Tucker, Cooper, Porter, Max and Ben. Following the Ford Plant relocating he and his wife purchased the West Valley Hotel, a very old landmark which they owned and operated for ten years. After selling in 1969 they moved to Delavan, NY and opened Delevan Liquors which they operated for twenty-five years. Selling the business, they moved to Sun City West enjoying retiring in the sunshine state. Now able to enjoy the passion of traveling they were able to visit most of the states, Alaska, Panama Canal, several trips to Europe and Asia which they so enjoyed. Often in conversations with Navy buddies at reunions he often said he brought his ship home with him because the USS Little Rock is now in the Naval Park in Buffalo, NY. In his remaining days his care and spiritual comfort was entrusted to Hospice of the West.
