Marie Nason Obituary

Bernice Marie Nason, 102, of Ottumwa, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 10 a.m. October 15, 2020 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She was born August 23, 1918 near Martinsburg, IA to William Joseph and Edna Bernice Hawthorne Braden. Marie married Glenn Richardson on March 15, 1937 and he preceded her in death on January 8, 1951. Later, she married Harold Nason on September 11, 1953 and he preceded her in death on October 29, 1993. Marie worked in the office at John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Douds Bethel Worship Center, Ottumwa Women’s Club and John Deere Retiree’s Club. She is survived by two daughters, Lenna (Carroll) Bresee of Ottumwa and Ann (John) Mattix of Oskaloosa; grandchildren, Lara Vandello of Fremont, Dan (Katie) Mattix of Western Springs, IL, Eric (Lindsey) Bresee of Ottumwa, Britney Bresee of Bloomfield and Brooke (Tyler) Lantz of Springdale; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Ryan Blaine; an infant great-grandson, Lucas James Vandello and a brother, Dwight Braden. Limited open visitation will be 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 18th at Reece Funeral Home. Private funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday October 19th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney DeRonde officiating. For those not able to attend the service, you may watch the service live from the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Entombment will be in Shrine of Memories Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the building fund at Fellowship Bible Church.
