Sandra Routszong

Sandra Byrd Routszong, 75, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away October 15, 2020, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born on July 11, 1945, in Clopton, Tennessee, and was the daughter of the late Elmer and Irene (McMahon) Byrd . Sandra was united in marriage to Alex Routszong on July 27, 1985. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Maury, L.W., and Thomas Byrd. Sandra graduated from Lambuth College in Jackson, Tennessee, on June 4, 1967. She taught music for over 40 years for the Piggott School District leading musical performances with the students over her many years at the school. Mrs. Routszong also lovingly known as Ms. Byrd was loved by her students. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Piggott, Arkansas, where she participated in choir and played the organ. Survivors include her husband, Alex Routszong of Piggott, Arkansas; Alex's son, Scott Vaugier and wife Angie of Jackson, Missouri and their children, Braden and Addy Vaugier; nephews, Brent Seay and wife Michelle of Brighton, Tennessee, Kevin Byrd and wife Kim of Ripley, Tennessee and Stephen Byrd and wife Kim of Ripley, Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Faye Byrd of Ripley, Tennessee and Joyce Byrd of Brighton, Tennessee; great nieces and nephews, John Seay, Seth and Colton Byrd, Karoline and Kathryn Byrd, and Kolbie Carter and husband Brandon and their son, Eli Carter; and other relatives and friends. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the cremation arrangements.
