Maria Franceschini

Obituary of Maria Franceschini Maria Dellapina Franceschini passed away on October 15, 2020 at the age of 98. She was born in Berceto, Parma, Italy to Giuseppe Dellapina and Rosa Rustici on June 30, 1922. She was the youngest of 14. She married Luigi Franceschini on May 15, 1947. In 1954, Luigi immigrated to the United State and settled on East 62St in Manhattan, a very Italian neighborhood at the time. On year later, he was joined by Maria and their two children, Rosanna and Roberto. They Eventually moved to Jackson Heights, Queens in 1972. Her beloved Luigi died in March of 1977. She was the beloved mother-in-law of the late Debra Franceschini and beloved sister of 13 brothers and sisters all deceased . She is survived by her children Rosanna Wagner and Robert Franceschini, her son-in-law Charles Wagner and her adored grandchildren, Robbie, Linda, James and Charles and great-grandchildren, Tino, Debbie, Rae and Lexi, Eric (Linda’s husband), Janine (Robbie’s wife), Orlanda (James’ wife) and Diana (Charles’ finance) and many nieces and nephews here and in Italy. Maria was very social, fun-loving, and generous. She was also very courageous. Maria endured difficult times: during the war, immigrating to a new country at age 33 and the losing her husband at age 54. She worked for a fine furniture manufacturer for 25 years and was a member of the Steelworkers Union. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, going to dinner dances with her many friends, but must of all, she enjoyed being with her family. We will all miss her warm and caring personality. “In lieu of flowers, donations to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, would be appreciated”
