Joseph Colombo Obituary

Born on May 14,1922 in the Bronx to Dominick and Catherine Colombo. A resident of Yonkers for 65 years, Joe died on October 15, 2020 at St. John's Riverside Hospital after a short illness. He was a graduate of the Bronx Vocational High School. In 1947, Joe and his father founded D. Colombo Heat Service Co., Inc. based in Mount Vernon, NY. After his father's death, Joe operated the business for 40 years until his retirement. A Master Plumber and Heating Specialist, he was often consulted by other plumbers for his expertise, even many years after his retirement. Joe enjoyed spending time with family and friends, talking politics and watching sports, particularly Yankees games. He is pre-deceased by his parents and five siblings - Frank, Antoinette, Mary and Carmella Colombo and Catherine Chapyak. He is survived by his sister, Rose Colombo, and nieces Carole Ann Chapyak, Mary Pernicone (Carl) and Jacqueline Rowland (William), and great nieces Christina and Caroline Rowland. Joe was a great guy and a proud American who will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
