JoAnn Fuller Obituary

JoAnn Fuller, age 81, of Marshalltown, formerly of Albion and Ferguson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.Funeral services for JoAnn will be held on Tuesday, October 20 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with burial following at Riverside Cemetery. A visitation will take place Monday, October 19 at 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorial funds may be directed to the family for later designation. For additional questions or to leave a condolence, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234.  View the funeral service live stream: https://www.facebook.com/Mitchell-Family-Funeral-Home-99280714047/ Born Jo Ann Swangel on October 22, 1938 in Montezuma, she was the daughter of Ralph and Arlene (Lennox) Swangel.  She graduated from high school in Paramount, CA in 1956.  On June 23, 1956, JoAnn married the love of her life, James Fuller, in Bellflower, CA. Together they lived in Bellflower before moving to Albion, where they made their home and raised their family. JoAnn worked for 15 years as a Nurse’s Aide and then as a caregiver for Mike Morrell. She was an active member of the Church of Christ in Marshalltown and the Ladies VFW Auxiliary, as well as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, delivering meals to the elderly. In her free time, JoAnn enjoyed taking walks, serving with the VFW, reading and bird-watching. She absolutely loved talking with family and friends and visiting her grandchildren. She was a lover of animals, especially birds, dogs, horses and her cat, Tiger. Left to cherish her memory is her children: James (Rose) Fuller of Marshalltown, Steve Fuller of Marshalltown, Sam (Judi) Fuller of Allison, April (Danny) Scovill of Ferguson and Clint Fuller of South Bend, IN; daughter-in-law, Betty Fuller-Reitz; 19 grandchildren: Cole, Blaine, David, Joseph, Misty, Julie, Kasie, Aaron, Jeremiah, Sarah, Shane, Amber, Joshua, Amanda, Michelle, Alan, Carl, Grace and Hannah; 20 great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Shirley Tuttle of Wellsburg; brothers: Harold (Joyce) Swangel of Gladbrook and Jarold (Karen) Swangel of Sioux Falls, SD and several other relatives. JoAnn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James; her parents, Ralph and Arlene; daughter, Grace at birth and son, Bill; great-granddaughters: Leightyn and Raelynn in infancy and                brother-in-law, Jerry Tuttle.
