Caroline Burston Obituary

Burston, Caroline "Carol" Harriett born November 30, 1944 - October 13, 2020

Caroline passed away on October 13, 2020 at Grandview Hospital. She was born in Valley River First Nation on November 30, 1944 to parents Christine and Victor McKay (nee Ironstand).  Her siblings were Lloyd, Rose, Helen, Alphonse, Joyce and Gordon.  Remaining siblings from Valley River First Nation are Gina (Bruce). Carol had raised her kids and others that needed guidance and love.  She loved to have family gatherings at home with her family around her.  Carol will be remembered for her kindness and loving nature. She was a very special woman who was more like a grandmother to a lot of us.  She was always cooking something, whether it be bannock, buns, or soup.  She was always in the kitchen and would greet you with a smile and an ear to listen.  Her and her sister Gina were always on the go and jokingly referred to themselves as “Thelma and Louise”. Carol fought and battled cancer for five years.
She leaves behind her children Mary (Chris), Sandra (Don), Maureen, Bryan, Albert (Lena).  Caroline leaves to mourn her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous cousins and close friends from Valley River First Nation, the city of Winnipeg and other places in Canada.   She was predeceased by her husband Albert and son Marty.
