Obituary

Doris J. Vining age 89, of Winona Lake (formerly of Etna Green) passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Grace Village Health Care Center. Doris was the daughter of Oliver and Edith DeHaven in Mishawaka on September 26, 1931, and a graduate of Mishawaka High School in 1949. She had been a long time resident of Etna Green, IN. She was a “city girl who became a farm girl”. She and her husband were grain and livestock farmers. She wasn’t afraid to drive a tractor. Doris was part of the Neighborhood Ladies Club for over 64 years. She was a long time volunteer at Kosciusko Community Hospital and Warsaw Wesleyan Church. She was always stepping up to be of help to others. Some of Doris’s interests included: bus trips and traveling around the US. She was a huge sports fan and especially her beloved Notre Dame. Doris married the love of her life Lowell G. Vining on August 29, 1954; he preceded in death February 11, 1992. Those who will greatly miss Doris are her children: Myron (Cindy) Vining of Syracuse, Jean Ann Bordner and Matthew Tedesco of Ft. Wayne, Lynn (Teresa) Vining of Goshen, and Clinton Vining and Wendy Walters of Bourbon. She was blessed with six grandchildren: Justin (Halie) Vining, Ryan Bordner, Nathan (Sarah) Vining, Andrea Bordner, Isaac Vining, Hannah Vining and her two great-grandchildren Dylan Wamsley and Corbin Bordner. Those preceding in death were her parents, her husband, two sisters Ruth Wiseman, Sara Mae Kristoff and brother Glen DeHaven. Friends may gather at Trinity United Methodist Church, 832 E. Center St., Warsaw, In 46580 on Sunday from 1:30 - 3:30 PM with a service following. Pastor Ernie Troxel of Trinity United Methodist Church will be officiating. Burial will be in Etna Green cemetery. In keeping with current COVID-19 regulations masks are required as well as being mindful of social distancing. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to: Warsaw Trinity United Methodist Church, 832 E. Center St. Warsaw, IN 46580.
