Doris David, age 83 of Monroe, CT, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at The Watermark in Bridgeport, CT. Mrs. David was born in Bronx, NY, a daughter of the late Harold and Rose Horowitz. Doris was a graduate of the University of Bridgeport and Southern CT State University. An elementary art educator for over 35 years in both the Stratford and Monroe school systems, she was an accomplished painter and visual artist herself. Doris taught ESL to generations of international students, and hosted a children's radio show called The Imagination Shoppe on WMNR. She was a member of the Lady Martha Chapter Order of the Eastern Star who loved reading, music and gardening, and was a loving dog mom to several adorable pups over the years. Mrs. David is survived by her devoted daughters Marcie Ventre, Stacey Severn and Aimee David, her cherished grandchildren Sarah Ventre, Matthew Ventre and Elliot Severn, her dear sister Lorraine Nagdeman, and her son-in-law Barth McNeil and his wife Marice. Doris was predeceased in 2010 by Elliot David, the love of her life and husband of 53 years. A graveside service was held at Monroe Center Cemetery in Monroe, CT on October 16, 2020.
