Lebertha Robinson

Lebertha Robinson of Grand Rapids, Michigan (formerly of Shaw, Mississippi), passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at the age of 96. She was the daughter of James and Gertrude Lidge. She moved to Grand Rapids at the age of 23 and she was married to Belmon Robinson. Lebertha loved to cook, make homemade vanilla ice cream, grill barbecue ribs and share it with anyone who would stop by. There was always room for one more at the table. In her free time, Lebertha enjoyed sewing her own quilts by hand, going fishing, growing vegetables in her garden then canning them, mowing her lawn until she thought it was perfect. Lebertha is survived by six daughters, Elaine Dillard, Gertrude (Larry) Smith, Carrie Milton, Cathy Jackson (whom she loved dearly), Shell Jones, Angela Rainey; her sister Rosie Lee Nash; and her brother Louis Lidge; two special nephews, Eli (Ruth) Lumpkins, Jessie (Ursula) Lidge; fourteen grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughters, Odestra Vinson, and Rosie Mae Hardges; her son Charles Robinson; a grandson Tony Terrell Hardges; two sisters Mary Odestra Beaty and Rosie Lee Mitchell; and three special friends, Ethel Mae Martin, Gladys Jimerson, and Alma Dolly. The family would like to thank Clark Retirement Home and Kindred Hospice for the care they gave Lebertha. A time of visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2020, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Kentwood, MI 49508.
