Sandra Sereday Eastman Obituary

Sandra Louise (Sereday) Eastman, 63, passed away of natural causes on May 23, 2017. She was born April 16, 1954 and was the third of eight children born to Hank and Opal Sereday of Lewistown. Sandy quietly fought a four year long courageous battle with cancer. Initially the doctors were giving her chances of survival less than a year. Because of her persistence, diligent study and strong will she outlived their expectations. After graduating from Fergus High School, she worked as a waitress, attended secretary school, was a part-time bookkeeper for Hank’s Trailer Sales, counterperson for Albertsons bakery and as a loving Nurses’ Aid at St. Joseph’s Hospital and CMMC. In 1974, she married Kirk Eastman of Lewistown, who was her lifelong partner, best friend and love of her life. They also started Eastman Sign Company together in 1974. Sandy was a pleasant, intelligent, hardworking, caring person that worked side-by-side with her husband at the sign shop for over three decades. Sandy was a great mother to their two children, Tina (Paul) McGowan, of Lewistown and Kamera (Mike) Winfrey, of Spokane. She was also a very loving grandmother to her four grandkids, Zarius and Preston McGowan and twins Madison and Kaden Winfrey. She couldn’t hardly pass a kid’s clothing rack without thinking of them and usually finding something to buy, even if it was Sandy’s birthday! (The shopping gene she inherited from her mother Opal!) She became an exemplary Christian woman and was a member of New Life Assembly of God. She held her faith in Jesus through the very end, which came rather too quickly. Sandy had told those around her that she was at peace with whatever lay in store, whether the Lord wished to heal and return her or bring her home. We are consoled knowing that she rests in His loving arms. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents and youngest down syndrome family member Dominic Alan “Nick” Sereday, whom Sandy was co-guardian and integral care giver to after Opal’s passing. She is survived by brother and sisters, Dave/Sue Sereday of White Sulphur, Bev/Rick Halverson, Daryl Sereday, Doug/Linda Sereday, Susan/Bruce Hinkley, and Dennis/Almyra Sereday all of Lewistown. A memorial service of Sandy’s life will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Celebration Community Fellowship in Lewistown, Montana. In lieu of gifts of flowers, you could buy someone a Bible and share the gift of faith. Arrangements are under the care of Creel Funeral Home.
