John Millarich Obituary

John Millarich was born on October 20, 1927 in Helper Utah.  He passed away on September 20, 2020 in Enumclaw WA

When he was 18 months old, his family moved to Enumclaw WA.  His parents purchased a farm in the Osecola area. Thus, began the start of 4 generations of Enumclaw Hornets in his family

His father passed away when he was a teenager.  His mother sold the farm, moved to Seattle and John joined the Army and was stationed in Japan after WWII

Upon discharge, he came home to his family in Seattle and soon after met Kathy Coluccio at a dance. They married in 1950 and moved to their own farm in the Krain area of Enumclaw in 1952, where John lived for 60+ years.

John loved the farm.  That was his dream.  He told us how that is all he really ever wanted  –  to have his own farm.  Later he got to work together with his son on the farm for many years.  John worked hard to achieve that dream of having a farm.  He usually worked two jobs – nights at Boeing for 30+ years and the farm during the day.  He even picked up a 3rd job sometimes.

He worked long hours, but always had time for his family and extended family.  Large family gatherings were the norm at the house. Kathy passed away in 1994.  Several years later he ran into a classmate at a class reunion – Martha Kneadler and they married in 1999.  They traveled, went on cruises, trips, to sporting events and enjoyed life. And, there were the famous Mother’s Day brunches that John took everyone to each year....it was a large group!

He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and extended family.  He wasn’t a side-line, “old” great grandpa.  He was at their events, games, etc. cheering them on and always interested in what they were doing.  Not many great grandkids get such an amazing opportunity to know their great grandfather so well.

John was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathy, and grandson John.  He is survived by his wife, Martha, daughter Marsha (Walt), son John (Janet), two granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. A private gravesite service was held on September 26th.

His family and all those who knew him will hold tight to the examples of how he lived his life....  love for family, friends, community, kind words, caring about others, generosity, hard work, making your dreams happen, and time for fun and cheering on your family, the Seahawks, Mariners or Huskies.  He will be missed by so many.
