Millinocket – Fay L. Flynn, 84, wife of the late Paul J. Flynn, died Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at a Millinocket hospital. She was born September 30, 1936 in Millinocket, the daughter of Cecil A. and Lavina (Ferguson) Hawkes. Fay grew up in Millinocket, and was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1955. She furthered her education at Maine Medical Center in Portland, where she earned her nursing degree. Fay spent her working career at Millinocket Regional Hospital as a Registered Nurse, a career which spanned many years. She was dedicated to her nursing profession and was proud to have been a part of the Millinocket nurses becoming part of the Maine State Nurse’s Association. Fay was an avid golfer, and a longtime member of the Hillcrest Golf Club in Millinocket. She was a faithful communicant of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, where she served on the Altar Guild, Vestry Committee, and was a Sunday School teacher. Fay is survived by a son, David Paul Flynn and his wife Jean; four grandchildren, Nicholas Richard Flynn, Chelsea Marie Griffin, Georgiana Fay Flynn, and Andrew Paul Flynn; ten great grandchildren; three siblings, Bonnie Friel, Lona Gagnon, and Larry Hawkes and his wife Mary; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, Fay was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey Scott Flynn, and two brothers, Leonard Casey and Don Hawkes. Friends are invited to visit with the family 4-6 PM Friday, October 23 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack Street, Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 A.M. Saturday, October 24 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 40 Highland Avenue, Millinocket, with the Rev. Robert Landry, pastor, presider. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery.
