A funeral mass for Anthony Castaneda, 31, of Cotulla (previously of Athens), is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the St. Edward’s Catholic Church SEEM, 1310 S. Palestine, Athens, TX 75751 with Father Nolan Lowry officiating. Interment will follow in Athens Cemetery under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home. Anthony passed away October 12, 2020 in Cotulla. Anthony Castaneda was born October 8, 1989 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Vidal Castaneda, Sr. and Maricela Sanchez. He worked in the oil industry for Big River Contractors and during his free time enjoyed all things cars, trucks and motorcycles. Anthony loved cooking out and spending time with his family. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Antonio Sanchez and brother, Jonathon Castaneda. Survivors include wife, Estefania Castaneda of Cotulla; parents, Vidal and Maricela Castaneda of Cotulla; children, Ariana Nickole Castaneda of Mexico, Aydien Castaneda of Cotulla, Ashton Castaneda of Cotulla; siblings, Jessica Castaneda and Johnothan Garcia of Arlington, Vidal Castaneda, Jr. of Cotulla, Giselle Castaneda of Cotulla and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Vidal Castaneda, Sr., Marcelino Perez, Vidal Castaneda, Jr., Ramiro Hernandez, Brodrick Cumby, Aaron Ray, Jaylon Clark and Joe Vasquez. Honorary pallbearers will be Jose Gallegos and Johnothan Garcia. Como portadores del féretro estarán Vidal Castañeda, Sr., Marcelino Pérez, Vidal Castañeda, Jr., Ramiro Hernandez, Brodrick Cumby, Aaron Ray, Jaylon Clark y Joe Vasquez. Los portadores honorarios serán José Gallegos y Johnothan García. Se llevará a cabo una visitacion el viernes 16 de octubre de 2020 de 4 a 6 p.m. en la funeraria Hannigan Smith de Athens con un rosario católico que empezara a las 6:00 p.m. Los arreglos del funeral se confiaron a la familia de la funeraria Hannigan Smith.
