Barbara Prather (Farmer) Yocum, 77, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on October 13, 2020. Barbara was born on September 6, 1943 in Macon, GA and raised in Milledgeville, GA. She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1961. Barbara enjoyed an impressive career as an administrative assistant and/or department head at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville; Bibb County Health Department and Clerk of the Board of the Bibb County Board of Commissioners where she retired in 2001. On February 2, 1980, Barbara married the love of her life, James (Tom) Yocum and they shared forty wonderful years together. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, James and Winifred Prather; her brother, John Prather and her sister, Jan Warnock. Left to cherish her loving memory are her husband, James Thomas Yocum of Hilton Head Island, SC. Her Children; Jeffery Farmer of Milledgeville, GA; Robert Yocum of Bloomingdale, GA; and, Jenny Koch of Pooler, GA. Her grandchildren; Joseph Swinson of Pooler, GA; Haylee Farmer of Atlanta, GA; Robert Yocum and Thomas Yocum of Bloomingdale, GA; Jody Farmer of Milledgeville, GA; Michael Koch of Pooler, Ga; and, one great grandchild, Kymani Conner of Atlanta, GA. One sister, Becky Sanner of Uhrichsville, OH and a host of loving nieces and nephews. A service and celebration of life will be held at Moores Funeral Home; 301 S. Wayne St., Milledgeville, GA on Saturday, Oct. 17th, at 3:00 PM with a private burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to a church or charity of your choice.
