<p>On October 9th, 2020, at the age of 76, our beautiful Grandmother passed away peacefully in Albuquerque, NM. In her lifetime, she was many things to many people including a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, aunt, friend and a welcoming home to all.<br /> <br /> Helen Melendrez Olguin was born on August 18th, 1944 in Carlsbad, NM. Early this year she got to celebrate 59 beautiful years of marriage to the love of her life, Eliseo Olguin. They were married on January 11th, 1961. Together they built a life of faith, love, laughter and many blessings. They were inseparable and will always be our guide for love.<br /> <br /> Helen was the heart of our family and though there are many of us, she made sure to have a special connection with each one of us. To her grandchildren, she was our Mamo or Wela She loved us unconditionally and always welcomed us with open arms. It was a mutual admiration and we could never get enough of her love. We will always remember and cherish the smile that she had when spending time with any one of her children or grandchildren. We all feel so blessed to have had such an incredible woman be our example of strength, unconditional love, and inspiration. We all wish for one more hug, one more kiss or just once more to hear, love you more. Rest In Peace our sweet Hon, mom, Mamo/Wela you are so loved and will be missed everyday.<br /> <br /> Helen is preceded in death by her parents Isabel and Maria Melendrez, her brothers, Enrique Rodriguez, Cruz Melendrez, Sammy Melendrez, Gilbert Melendrez and sister Lydia Rodriguez and grandson Isaiah DeHoyos.<br /> <br /> She is survived by husband Eliseo Olguin, four brothers - Rudy Melendrez, Jerry Flores, Danny Melendrez, and Johnny Duran, her six children - Velma Olguin, Joann Olguin, Yolanda DeHoyos and husband Albert DeHoyos, Cynthia Linnear and husband Jeff Linnear, Eliseo Olguin Jr and wife Julia Olguin and Donna Olguin and husband Jerome Holguin, eighteen grandchildren - Gabriel Barrera, Valerie Corse, Genevieve Barrera, Miguel Cortez, Danielle Cortez, Michael DeHoyos, Vincent DeHoyos, and Albert Dehoyos, Jonathan Garcia, Jacqueline Garcia, Jocelyn Trujillo, Celestina Olguin, Roco Olguin, Mia Olguin, Christopher Martinez, Bryan Ybarra, Ryan Ybarra, and Mariah Ybarra and twenty eight very loved great grand children.<br /> <br /> Services will be held at 10 am Friday at House of Worship. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery.<br /> <br /> Pallbearers are Valerie Corse, Michael DeHoyos, Vincent DeHoyos, Albert DeHoyos, Jacqueline Garcia and Roco Olguin. Honorary pallbearers are Armin Florez, Javier Jimenez and Sebastian Trujillo.<br /> <br /> The family has requested plants instead of flower arrangements.</p>

On October 9th, 2020, at the age of 76, our beautiful Grandmother passed away peacefully in Albuquerque, NM. In her lifetime, she was many things to many people including a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, aunt, friend and a welcoming home to all.

Helen Melendrez Olguin was born on August 18th, 1944 in Carlsbad, NM. Early this year she got to celebrate 59 beautiful years of marriage to the love of her life, Eliseo Olguin. Helen was the heart of our family and though there are many of us, she made sure to have a special connection with each one of us. Services will be held at 10 am Friday at House of Worship. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Valerie Corse, Michael DeHoyos, Vincent DeHoyos, Albert DeHoyos, Jacqueline Garcia and Roco Olguin. Honorary pallbearers are Armin Florez, Javier Jimenez and Sebastian Trujillo.
