"Chuck" Henry Charles Mason

<p>Peacefully at his residence in MacGregor with family by his side, Chuck Mason, beloved husband of Millie Mason, passed away Monday October 12, 2020 at the age of 87. Chuck was born at the St. Rose hospital in Manitoba October 15, 1932 to Henry and Nina Mason.&nbsp; Chuck and his family spent the majority of his early years of life near Lavenham, Manitoba. He spent his school years in MacGregor Manitoba. Chuck met the love of his life, Millie Alderson, while working and residing in Winnipeg. Chuck and Millie got married in MacGregor October 11, 1958, and began their journey together living in Winnipeg. It was there that Cathy was born November 20, 1962 and Sharon, born August 12, 1966. After a short stint working at Island Lake, Manitoba, Chuck and his family moved to the Alderson family farm near MacGregor in 1972. It was here their last daughter, Angela, was born December 25, 1973 at the MacGregor Hospital. Chuck and Millie raised their daughters here on the farm until 1991; during which time he also ran Mason Electric from 1973 to 1988. In 1991 Chuck, Millie and Angela moved to the farm near Sidney Manitoba where they resided until they retired to Austin in 2018. In 2020, due to illness, Chuck and Millie moved to Victoria Place in MacGregor. Chuck had a love for animals and nature. He spent his lifetime teaching his loved ones about nature and loved going for walks in the bush. He was always known as the one to go to for answers to many questions like &ldquo;what kind of bird is that?&rdquo; or &ldquo;how do I fix this?&rdquo;. He was also a self taught musician; he could pick his guitar up and play along to almost every song. Chuck was predeceased by his parents; sister Joan (Wally) Wensel; brother Rick Mason; brother-in-law Olie Bjornson; brother and sister&ndash;in-law Joe and Audrey Lobreau; brother-in-law Pryce Alderson; and great grandson Maddok Duke. He will be missed by his wife Millie; his sister Betty Bjornson; Cathy (Murray) Painter; Sharon George (Ken Reimer); and Angela Mason. Grandchildren, Joel (Lindy) Painter, Sarah (Matt) Loeppky, Kristy Painter (Kaiden Friesen); Amanda (Brian) Duke, Michael Gooch(Helen de Martines), Jesselyn Gooch (Oliver Mayer ), Abigail Gooch; Morgan Mason-Rothwell. Also 6 great grandchildren; Nolan, Kasian, Oliver, Freya and Kaleena, and Malcolm; sister-in-law Irene Alderson; sister and brother-in-law Ralph and Evelyn Alderson; sister and brother-in-law Marlene and Dick Gervais; very close family friends Les and Gerri Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.</p> <p>There will be a Celebration of Life in 2021, date to be announced later.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada for research into Lewy Body Dementia.</p> <p>&ldquo;Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway&rdquo; John Wayne</p>
