With great sadness, the family of Edna Kyowski announce the passing of our dear mother who passed away peacefully on October 12, 2020 at the Esterhazy Centennial Special Care Home at the age of 84.  She is survived by her three daughters Michele Kyowski & (Frank Beyer) of Saskatoon, SK, Deb (Terry) Lingl of Warman, SK, Gloria (Gerald) Bzdel of Saskatoon, SK and sister Victoria Chornomitz of Esterhazy, SK.  Edna was predeceased by her parents Julius and Stella (Boyko) Shuya, her sister Agnes (Orest) Parsey and Mike Kyowski.

Edna was born on June 6, 1936 to Julius and Stella Shuya on their homestead in Preeceville, SK and was their middle child.  She had two sisters Victoria and Agnes.  Edna attended Hryhoriw School as well as Preeceville School.  In her adult years Edna met and married Mike Kyowski where they moved to Edmonton however eventually moved back to Preeceville to make it their permanent residence.  There they married and had three daughters Michele, Debbie and Gloria. 

Edna worked at the Red and White grocery store, Hardware store and Shop Rite until she made a career move and received schooling to become a health care aide worker.  She worked for the Assiniboine Valley Health District and was employed at the Preeceville Hospital & Lion’s Housing caring for the elderly.  She completed 19 years of service before she retired in May of 2002.

In 2018 Edna moved to Esterhazy, SK to be closer to Victoria who resides in Esterhazy as well as Agnes who was in the Esterhazy Centennial Special Care home.   

Edna was kind, selfless and very hardworking.  She was an extraordinary cook and baker.  She always had care packages for her daughters to take home after every visit.  She always welcomed guests to her home and always ensured they were fed before leaving.   She was excellent in quilt making, embroidery, sewing, knitting and crocheting.  She made many quilts which she gave to family. 

She had a green thumb and grew amazing gardens year after year.  She also had a love for the outdoors and a love for growing flowers.  Her yard was always well manicured as she took pride in how it looked.   Having a beautiful yard with many flowers always made her feel good.  

Edna’s pride and joy were her three daughters Michele, Debbie and Gloria.  She loved being a mom and was very proud of who they became.   Family was first and foremost to her and along with the pride and joy of her daughters she had an extremely close relationship with her two sisters Victoria and Agnes.  The three of them were inseparable and were known as the “3 musketeers” by Father Rac.  They enjoyed going to Church together and her faith in God was a source of her strength.  Many memories were created over the years by all of us and will be forever cherished.  Mom, you will be forever loved and in our hearts.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Esterhazy Centennial Special Care Home for looking after her during her stay there.
