Richard Anthony Ellis

ENFIELD – Richard A. Ellis, 60, entered into eternal rest at home on Monday, October 12, 2020, surrounded by his family, after a 20-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Born in Brockton, MA, Rick grew up in Rhode Island and was a graduate of Barrington High School in Rhode Island. Rick received an Associate’s Degree from United Technologies in Tampa, Florida and worked for twenty-five years as an electronic technician for Diebold, retiring in 2010. He was a Master Mason for twenty-eight years with the Mount Holyoke Lodge of Masons, AF&AM. Rick enjoyed traveling and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Rick also liked the beach, sports, bird watching, and working with electronics. He was also an Air Force veteran and served for 4 years in Tampa, Florida. He was predeceased by his father, Albert Ellis. Rick leaves his wife of thirty-four years, Laurie R. (Deprest) Ellis, two daughters, Brooke J. Ellis and Cheyenne L. Ellis, both of Enfield, his mother, Eleanor (Petorelli) Ellis of Enfield, a brother, Peter Ellis of Enfield, an aunt, Dorothy DiIorio of North Carolina and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2020 at 3pm at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Browne Memorial Chapels is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Petit Family Foundation, an organization that provides help to educate young people, supports those with chronic illnesses such as MS, and helps protect those that have been impacted by violence. This organization has supported Rick’s two daughters in the past.
