Eileen (Portwood) Johnson, age 66, of Boone and the Eastern Star Masonic Home, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020 at her home. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, October 16, 2020 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Family will be present 30 minutes prior to services. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Per Eileen's wishes, please dress casual to attend services. Eileen Elizabeth (Portwood) Johnson was born in Mason City on April 20, 1954 to Les and Pat (Schneider) Portwood. She lived in Clear Lake until 1964 when the family moved to Boone. She attended Sacred Heart grade school then Ryan High through 10th grade. She attended Boone High School for 11th grade and transferred to Alexandria, VA, where she lived with her aunt and uncle her senior year. She graduated from Hayfield High of Fairfax County. Eileen returned to Boone after graduation and did some traveling across the country working various jobs on her journey. She bartended for 35 years in several different places, but primarily at Michael’s in Beaverdale for over 20 years. She was also a Dental Lab Technician for 35 years, mostly with Beveridge Dental Crafts in Des Moines. Eileen was united in marriage with Timothy K. Johnson on November 4, 2000 in Delhart, TX. Eileen and Tim moved back to Boone in 2001. The couple owned and operated the E J Cleaning and Painting for 10 years. Eileen also owned a bar, the Beaver Tap, in Beaver for 3 years. Eileen enjoyed being with children and the elderly, loved dogs- especially her Blackie Lu and Delilah. Also enjoyed gardening, crafts, art, and chatting with people everywhere she went. Eileen is survived by her husband’s children, Troy Johnson of Norfolk, NE and Lisa Porter (Rick Miller) of Boone; grandchildren, Kyle (Alissa) Morgan and Kortney Morgan; great-granddaughter, Eleanor Morgan; three brothers, Mike Portwood of Minneapolis, MN, Phil Portwood of Neligh, NE, and Joe (Joann) Portwood of Harlan; sister, Janann (Steve) Beaubien of Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Kate Portwood of Creston; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, Les and Pat Portwood; husband, Tim Johnson, who passed away on October 4, 2019; son, Joseph Michael; brother, Jim Portwood; sister-in-law, Brenda Portwood; and a special dog, Blackie Lu. Eileen’s instructions to you: celebrate her life because it was awesome-even through good and bad. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone.
