Verne Raymond Paxton died Oct. 12, 2020. He was 84 years old, and was born Oct. 8, 1936 in Chicago, IL to Raymond and Bernice Paxton. After moving from Valparaiso, IN, Verne lived in Royal Oak, MI for over 50 years. He graduated from Ferris State University in 1959, and began his career as Certified Public Accountant. He was proud of his work, and made it a priority to give back to his profession. He did this in many different ways, including actively serving in the Michigan Association of Certified Accountants. It was important to Verne to serve others, and he accomplished that through supporting many people through AA for over 30 years, and volunteering for various community organizations. Verne also especially enjoyed spending time in northern Michigan, and also loved music and to sing. Verne was the devoted husband of Neva “Becky” (nee Sawyer) for 64 years. Loving father of Thomas (Carol), Peter (Betty), Todd (Pamela), Sarah Kalil, and Joseph (Patty). Proud grandpa of Joseph, Nicholas, Karen, Luca, Susan, Hannah, Zachary, Josie, Lily, Jacob, and many great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends Friday from 3-8pm with a 7pm Memorial Service at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Ave. (btwn 13-14 Mile), (248) 549-0500.
