Jane Francis Maddox - GWFH

Mrs. Jane Francis Maddox of Harrisburg, departed this life on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at the Flo and Phil Jones hospice House in Jonesboro, at the age of 97. She was born May 6, 1923 in Memphis, TN, the daughter of the late James Wesley Bagwell and Ada Cawthon Bagwell. Jane was raised in Memphis and was a 1942 graduate of Humes High School in Memphis. Her first job following High School was at Cudahy Packing Company in Memphis. On May 11, 1946, she married H.P. Maddox. She worked many years at the Harrisburg Abstract Office and also for Judge Rice Van Ausdall. She was a member of the Progressive Century Club and the Harrisburg Garden Club. Jane was a faithful member of the Harrisburg First Baptist Church. Jane loved music. She began playing the piano at age 3 and continued throughout her life playing for others. She played the piano and organ at the First Baptist church for over 50 years. Jane shared her love of music with the Harrisburg Community from the time she married H.P. Maddox in 1946. If anyone needed music, she was available. She played for The Progressive Century Club, beauty pageants, and Harrisburg functions. The accordion was always played at school parties for her four children. Her marriage to H.P. produced four children, Janet Staed (Bill) of Ft. Smith, H.P. Maddox, III “Billy” (Beth) of Jonesboro, Jim Ed Maddox (Debbie) of Harrisburg and Dan Maddox (Brenda) of Harrisburg. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H.P. Maddox and one sister, Georgie Wilson. Funeral Services are set for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Kausler officiating and Lonene Edwards playing piano. Interment will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Those serving as pallbearers will be Michael Staed, Joseph Staed, Patrick Staed, Thomas Staed, Brian Maddox, Luke Maddox, and Mathew Maddox. Those serving as honorary pallbearers will be Maddox Steward, Fowler Maddox, Meyer Maddox, Jacob Smith, Barrett Waleszonia, Vinson Pagan, Brock Clifft.
