Leslie Paul Henderson, 97, of Ottumwa, died at 8:35 a.m. October 12, 2020 at Hospice House in Ottumwa. Paul was born November 19, 1922 in Monroe County, IA to Andy and Bertha Warren Henderson. He married Norma Jean Nedderman on November 4, 1944. Paul attended Lovilia High School. He worked for John Morrell & Co. for 27 years in Ottumwa until the plant closed in 1973 and then in Sioux Falls for 10 years, retiring in 1983. He also farmed. Paul was a member of Zion Community Church of God. Surviving is his wife, Jean; their children, Millie (Dave) Strong of Ottumwa, Robert (Kathy) Henderson of West Plains, MO, Theodore Paul “Ted” Henderson of Bloomfield and Lyle (Deb) Henderson of Tiffan; 10 grandchildren, Shelli, Paul, Bobbi, Heather, Justin, Wesley, Michael, Ryne, Trent and Holly; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by siblings, Robert, Joe and Ernest Henderson, Evelyn Dunkin and Maxine Chance. Limited open visitation will be 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, October 15th at Reece Funeral Home. Private funeral services will be held. Although the service is private, a recording of the service will be available Friday afternoon on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia. Memorials may be made to Zion Community Church of God.
