Charles A Gravelle
<p>Charles Anthony “Chuck” Gravelle, 67, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020, in Spokane, Washington. Chuck was born to Paul Charles and Arlene Clara (Brower) Gravelle on December 30, 1952, in Spokane, Washington. Most of his childhood was spent in Minnesota though he also lived in Indiana, Oregon, and Idaho before moving back to Spokane.</p> <p>Chuck’s educational path could be described as simply “living life Chuck’s way”. He joined the Army at the age of 17 and served in the National Guard Reserves. Chuck was a hard worker and was employed for 38 years selling heavy- and light-duty truck parts for Interstate Parts and Equipment and Six Robblee’s. He served as a volunteer firefighter and first responder with the Spokane County Fire District 9 for 25 years. Chuck will be remembered for his passion for helping anyone who needed a hand.</p> <p>Chuck enjoyed gardening and canning his veggie-tables, as he called them, and he could make the best lentil chili you’ve ever tasted. He loved NASCAR and was a huge fan of the Minnesota Vikings. </p> <p>Chuck was a cowboy, through-and-through. He was always busy, whether that be out walking the pasture, changing hand-line irrigation sprinklers, or chasing the cows back into the pasture. He would barely stop to eat, then out to the shop to tinker around on the old pickup he was restoring. Chuck was full of spunk and adventure. He loved his family, loved to have fun, and loved to laugh. He would look at his siblings while they were laughing at something and just smile that “Chuck smile” and slowly say, “ooohhh-kkaayyyy” as he shook his head and chuckled. If any of his siblings tried to persuade him to reconsider doing something dangerous or risky, he’d smile that smile and say, “I love you, too!”…then do what he was going to do anyway. Those that went to him for advice or to share their plans with him, he would often tell them, “Well, just no reason not to.”</p> <p>Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Arlene Gravelle, and his brother, Michael Wayne Gravelle. He is survived by his fiancé, Elizabeth “Beth” Darling; daughters, Courtney (Chris) Adams and Lacey (Matt) Olson; siblings, Donna (Rick) Williams, Pam (Hank) Stamschror, PJ (June) Gravelle, Doug (Debbie) Gravelle, Cindy (Jack) Hamby, Thomas (Amy) Gravelle, and Terri (Crystal) Gravelle; grandchildren, MaKenna, Kody, Trey, Colton, Bryce, and Clancey; 19 nieces and nephews; and 31 great-nieces and great-nephews. Throughout Chuck’s life, it was clear that he deeply loved his family just as he was deeply loved by his family. He is truly missed and loved.</p> <p>Chuck will be laid to rest at Pines Cemetery in Spokane Valley. Due to current restrictions on attendance, this will be a private graveside service.
