Joaquin Almaguer, 60, of Gonzales passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020. Joaquin was born August 16, 1954 in Delores Hidalgo, Mexico to Lorenzo Almaguer and Maria DeJesus Itubero. Joaquin was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Joaquin came to Gonzales at the age of 16. He worked in chicken houses before going to work for Southern Clay. He worked for Southern Clay for 27 years before he retired. Joaquin enjoyed going to HEB and Walmart and talking to his friends and acquaintances while shopping. He was an enthusiastic member of AA and attended all their meeting in hopes of helping others with his story. He was an excellent cook and loved to make his own recipe for chile. Joaquin loved his family and especially adored his grandchildren. Truly his greatest joy was his beloved wife, Joaquin cherished their relationship. He was an awesome and amazing family man and friend who was always willing to help others any way he could. Joaquin Almaguer is survived by his loving family, wife, Rosalinda Ramos Almaguer, daughters and sons-in-law, Norma Ramos Cervantes and Jorge, Lori Ortiz and Cesar all of Gonzales, son, Christopher Joe Ramos and Megan Ivey of Luling, sister and brothers-in-law, Eugenia Almaguer and Rueben Mojares of Delores Hidalgo, MX, Juana Almaguer and Guadalupe Leon of Los Angeles, CA, Consuelo Almaguer and Manuel Mendez of Delores Hidalgo, MX, Enedina Almaguer and Alberto Martinez, Francisca Almaguer and Martin Soto, Elvida Almaguer and Carlos Soto, Maria Angeles Almaguer and Lucio Garcia all of Athens, brothers and sisters-in-law, Manuel and Analilia Almaguer of Los Angeles, CA, Rafael Almaguer and Gloria Monsano of Delores Hidalgo, MX, and Lorenzo Almaguer of Athens, 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Maria De Los Angeles, Teresa Almaguer, brother, Jesus Almaguer and grandson, Manuel Govea. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2020 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home followed by a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. in the chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in St. James Cemetery with Deacon Alfonso Moreno officiating. Pallbearers: Jaylen Ramos, Chris Ramos, Jesse Vera, Lorenzo Almaguer, Jorge Cervantes, and Meches Cardoza. Honorary pallbearer: Alfredo Ugarte. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Due to current CDC, State and local mandates, protective measures regarding social distancing, limited attendance capacity, and use of personal protective masks will be required for the visitation, rosary service and graveside burial rite. Those remotely symptomatic of Covid 19 are politely asked not to attend. Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
