Leonard Fiedler

Leonard Lee “Mugs” Fiedler, 80, of Ottumwa, died at 8:33 p.m. October 11, 2020 at home. He was born April 2, 1940 in Eldon to Henry Willis “Pete” and Gwendolene Eva Troxell Fiedler. He married Carolyn Joyce Gruwell on August 28, 1960 and she preceded him in death on October 31, 2014. A graduate of Cardinal High School, he worked 20 years for Southern Iowa Concrete, then worked for himself in construction in Oklahoma. He sold McNess Feed and household products and worked 18 years for Heckart & Sons, from where he retired. Leonard was a member of Miller Chapel. Surviving are his children, Rev. Ricky (Cathy) Fiedler of Agency, Henry Fiedler (Melissa) of Ottumwa, Jeffrey (Anjie) Fiedler of Newton, KS and Anita (Billy) Snow of Ottumwa; 19 grandchildren 40 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Velma Juillerat, Marjorie Van De Pol, Ruth Sheldon, Richard Fiedler and Orville Fiedler. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Randy Fiedler Sr., grandson, Zachary Curtis Guffey, great-grandson, Corbin James Fiedler; daughter-in-law, Kim Fiedler; sisters, Mertic Cary and Terrie Rae Fiedler. Limited open visitation will be 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 14th at Reece Funeral Home. Public graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Fiedler Cemetery with his son, Rev. Ricky Fiedler, officiating. Memorials may be made to the family.
