Carolyn Lokenvitz Obituary

Carolyn Lokenvitz, 69, of Charles City, Iowa, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2020 at home. A memorial service will be held at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jason Boyd from Faith Bible Chapel in Charles City officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home Facebook page at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 16, 2020. A gathering of family and friends will be at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service on Friday. Those in attendance at either the memorial service or gathering before will be asked to follow social distancing guidelines and to please wear a face mask. Carolyn Sue (Harman) Lokenvitz, the daughter of Leo M. and Shirley Ann (Porter) Harman, was born July 8, 1951 in Story City, Iowa. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1969 and was married to Robert “Bob” McDonald on December 6, 1969. This union was blessed with two daughters: Annjannette and Robin. They would later divorce. Carolyn was united in marriage to Donald Lokenvitz on June 15, 1985. The couple made their home in Charles City. Carolyn worked for a short time at Kmart and Dean Jewelers, both in Charles City. She also sold Avon, Home Interiors and Tupperware for a few years. Carolyn enjoyed crocheting, collecting, shopping, gardening (especially plants), baking and traveling to Branson, Missouri with good friends Cathy and Dave. She spent many years camping in Hampton with Donald and other family members. Carolyn loved her family very much, and she will be missed greatly. Living family members include her husband, Donald of Charles City; two daughters: Annjannette (Rod) Tudor of Colwell and Robin (Michael) Pivarnik of Charles City; step-son, John Lokenvitz of Vinton; her loving dog, Shadow; seven grandchildren: Samantha, Noah, Madalyn, Kayla, Courtney, Jayme and Conor; two great-grandchildren: sister, Connie (Dale) Nicholson of Charles City; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Shirley Harman; brother, Steven Harman; and step-daughter, Elizabeth Bucknell.
