John Douglas Baysinger Eastridge Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that parents Rick and Jill Eastridge of rural Ozawkie mourn the passing of John Douglas Baysingerl Eastridge. During the first days of October of this year, John fell in the bathroom of his apartment in Lawrence Kansas and never regained consciousness. He would have been 26 on October 4, 2020. John spent his early childhood in Baxter Springs, Ks, and moved to Ozawkie when he was 6 years old. A gentle giant, at a muscular 6’3” and 250+ pounds, John was active in sports in the Oskaloosa school district and after graduation, he was certified by Washburn Technical School in Heavy Machinery. He then enlisted in the Army, and was in the 13B Cannon crewmember artillery division entering at the rank of E-4. After his honorable discharge, John was employed at Schlumbergers in Lawrence. He will be sadly missed by his two little children Annsley Maria Eastridge and Serenity Lee Eastridge of rural Oskaloosa. Surviving Eastridge siblings are: Jennifer Eastridge, Grant Eastridge, and Lukis Chenoweth . Surviving Basinger family members include: his biological father Jon Baysinger, paternal aunt Karrie Cobb, and siblings: Jerry Cobb and Chris Young, and his half siblingsTaya and Brandon. Surviving biological maternal family members are mother Angie McCoy, Jayde, and Boyd. He will also be missed by his ex-wife Caitlyn Eastridge. John was preceded in death by his grandmother, Laura Gronyer Baysinger of Baxter Springs in 2011. His parents sent him to his childhood home in Baxter Springs for cremation by Derfelt’s Funeral Home. He will be returned to Oskaloosa for his final resting place. John was a loyal and valued friend to many in the Oskaloosa and Ozawkie communities and his friends in the military and his work. Please contact Ryan Alexander, Lukis Chenoweth, or Caitlyn Eastridge for information about a Celebration of Life service for him in Oskaloosa. Rest in peace, Big John.
