It is with broken hearts that the family of Bertram Scott Butler of Burin announces his passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center after a battle with leukemia, on Saturday, October 10, 2020, aged 44 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories, wife Nikki and son Blake, mother Earlene Butler, father Edward Greene, brother Scott Kettle (Erica), sister Keshia Butler, sister Chantal Kavanagh; grandparents Wilson and Viola Kettle; nieces and nephews Carter & Brooke Evans, Tanner & Willow Kettle and Paizley & Chase Lockyer; Father and Mother-in-law Randell & Cathy Evans; brother-in-law David Evans (Glynda), plus a large loving family of special Aunts, Uncles, cousins and close friends. Predeceased by grandparents Bertram & Alice Butler and Uncle Rodney Butler. Bert and Nikki lived and worked in Alberta for 12 years before returning home to their beloved Newfoundland with plans to start a family surrounded by a loving family & dear friends. Bert excelled at many sports but softball was by far his favorite! He loved playing in tournaments with his cherished family and close friends. Bert was a fun & loving father to his precious, long-awaited, 18-month-old son, Blake. His love for him was immense! He will also be greatly missed by his dog, Darcy, who was his constant companion. His nephews and nieces will miss his incessant teasing, fun, and snuggles. Special thanks to Dr. David Jones and his team at the Health Sciences Center for their ongoing care, and especially to Dr. Ed Mayo and his team at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center during Bert’s final days. The care and concern shown to Bert and his family was nothing short of exceptional. In Bert’s memory, any donations will be shared among Blake’s education fund, the Burin Softball Field for completion of the mini diamond, and the Burin SPCA.
