Obituary
Ellen Mary Berg
April 26, 1929 - October 8, 2020
It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Ellen Berg.
Ellen was born and raised near Irma, Alberta, third of eight siblings. Life was not easy for the family and became even harder when Ellen’s dad passed away when she was eleven. At 17 she got a job as a waitress at a diner in Irma. That is where she met Stan and they were married in 1947, the day after she turned 18. They settled on a farm north of Gwynne and there they farmed for many years, raising three children. Ellen was a gardener extraordinaire, she was a great cook, liked sewing, quilting, and loved to knit. She was a great homemaker for her family.
Ellen leaves to mourn; her children, Inez (Ken) Niles, Brian (Lorraine) Berg, and Rod (Chris) Berg; seven grandchildren, Steve (Shannon) Niles, Linnea (Michael) Spiess, Geoff Berg, Jon (Laura) Berg, Ashley (Lance) Todorovich, Adam (Bridget) Berg, and Andrew Berg; eight great-grandchildren, Jacob Niles, Jordana, Vienna, and Natalya Spiess, Owen Berg, Aleese and Kaylee Todorovich, and Wesley Berg; sister, Joan Goddard and brothers, Jack (Irene) MacKay, Don (Evva) MacKay, and Francis (Gloria) Withall.
Ellen was predeceased by her husband, Stan; parents, John and Jean MacKay; sisters, Nan Larson, Betty Forsberg, and Lil Glasgow; brothers-in-law, Torlief Larson, Eric Forsberg, Albert Glasgow, and Frank Goddard.
A family memorial service will be held at the Wetaskiwin Mission Church with interment taking place at the Crooked Lake Cemetery, Gwynne, Alberta.
