John Verbanac

John Verbanac, 48, a resident of Calumet passed away suddenly at his home on the evening of Thursday October 8, 2020. He was born on March 19, 1972 in Laurium to Stephen Verbanac and Katherine Berryman. In his younger years, he enjoyed living in Virginia Beach with his mom and step dad. John loved music! He was an avid drummer in local bands. He was involved with the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps, and even was an assistant instructor for a few years. He enjoyed being a pizza delivery driver, and lately loved flying his drone. He was a family oriented man, where he enjoyed spending time and hanging out with his children. John was an avid sports fan too! He enjoyed playing softball in the local leagues, and enjoyed watching the New England Patriots as well as the Philadelphia Flyers. On June 9, 2012 he was united in marriage to Jackie Parkin at the platform in Eagle Harbor. He's been known to be a good guy, a respectful gentleman, but still not afraid to speak his mind at times. He is preceded in death by his daughter Gemma Skye Verbanac, his grandfather Clyde “Crusher” Berryman, mom Katherine Teter, and 2 close friends Dave Riutta and Jim Chevalier. He is survived by: His wife: Jackie of Calumet His children: Natasha Wright of Calumet Kayla Parkin of Lake Linden Bryanna Nikkila of Houghton Lake Nathan Nikkila of Calumet Liam Verbanac of Calumet His brother: Mike(Rihanna) Teter of Wisconsin His sister: Danielle(Jacob) Augsburger of Ann Arbor His father: Steve Verbanac of Wisconsin His 2 nephews and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Close friends: Bryan Fischer Dan Kinley He will be missed by many. Due to COVID restrictions a memorial service will be held in the spring of 2021. Details to be announced at a later date.
