Lorine Marie Oleksyn Obituary

Lori was born in Saskatoon on October 20th, 1962. Lori was the oldest and the only girl born to Ed and Adeline Oleksyn. Lori's parents moved from place to place in her growing years, a time she spoke of often. Lori's parents were her inspiration and she looked up to both of them. Lori was also very fortunate and blessed to have her special Baba move to Tisdale and truly have time with her. Baba Komarnicki gave Lori her much needed strength that she carried with her throughout her life. Lori graduated from high school in Tisdale in 1980 and briefly moved to Saskatoon and then back to Tisde to marry a Farmer, Wayne Nontell. Wayne and Lori were married July 17, 1982. Lori was not raised on a farm and farm life proved to be the best years of her life. Wayne and Lori had three children, Evan Kelly (1985), Brady Edward (1989) and Brittney Adele Fern (1993). Evan was the first boy and a great son to Lori. As a little boy he was her rock, and as an adult he was a father, husband and son she could always count on. Brady was born at harvest time and she always remembered that day, not the best time for a Farmer to have a baby! Brady was an active son that nobody could keep up to. Brady was adventurous and never afraid to try new things. It was so typical for Brady to be building something, a fort, a treehouse or a ramp to put against the picnic table. All traits his own sons have to love. Watching her boys on the farm having fun were special memories Lori shared often. Precious Brittney was born on a cold January day. Lori was so happy to welcome a baby girl into the family. Lori and Brittney shared a special bond that only they could understand. They loved to journal, meditate, craft and relax in the sun. Lori's free spirit and love for life came from the time she spent with Brittney. Lori worked in Marketing at TCU in Saskatoon and loved her job. Many of her co-workers became her life long friends. Lori also owned her own business, Tell All Stiches. Her determination for success was something she said she learned from her Dad. Lori's dreams of becoming a 'Baba' came true in June of 2015 when her first grandchild, Owen Nontell, entered the world. Soon followed her four other grandchildren Otto, Lawson, Finley and Halle. Lori was happiest when she was with them. The loves of her life she called them! She taught them how to be kind, how to laugh through pain and how to appreciate the little things in life, like getting to eat ice cream for supper when your at Baba's! In 2017 Lori welcomed a new love into her life, Terry. Terry and Lori shared a love of the outdoors, gardening, going to concerts, traveling and appreciating every day they were given. Lori was so carefree and happy when she was with Terry, a happiness she carried until her last days. Lori was one of a kind and loved by so many. Her carefree spirit, infectious laugh and kind hearted soul was felt wherever she went. She wanted the ones she loved to be happy and felt pure joy in being able to see that. To know her was to love her. She was as great cook and loved her time at Candle Lake. The world needs more Baba's like Lori Marie Oleksyn. Lori is survived by her dad Ed Oleksyn, brother Miles (Deanne) Oleksyn, sons Evan (Robin) Nontell and Brady (Dallas) Nontell, daughter Brittney (Liam) Becker, her five grandchildren: Owen, Otto, Lawson, Finley & Halle; niece Shayne Oleksyn and nephew Rylan Oleksyn. Lori was predeceased by her mother Adeline Oleksyn. a private graveside service was held at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, at Lepine, SK on Friday, October 9, 2020.
